History

The Home Economics Association of Australia (HEAA) was established on the 6th of September 1965. The Home Economics Association of South Australia President’s gavel was presented by the founding President of HEAA, Isabel Horne, in 1977. HEAA was incorporated under the South Australian ‘Associations Incorporation Act’ on the 7th of June 1982.

On 8th of March 1994 HEAA was incorporated as the Home Economics Institute of Australia (HEIA) Inc. At its 1994 Annual general Meeting, the Home Economics Association of South Australia adopted the title Home Economics Institute of Australia (South Australia), shortened to HEIA SA as it stands today.
