King and Amy O’Malley Scholarships
In the belief that Australian family life ought to be strengthened and supported for the sake of the nation, and having no living relatives, King and Amy O’Malley established a trust fund under which their estate accrued interest for twenty-one years, after which the interest would be used for home economics scholarships.
Approximately four King and Amy O’Malley Scholarships, both undergraduate and postgraduate, are available to South Australian applicants annually for study in home economics.
How to Apply: Calls for applications are advertised in the Journal of the Home Economics Institute of Australia. Applications are considered by state and territory selection panels, consisting of the divisional president of the HEIA, or a nominee, and one person from each of the school and tertiary sectors. The state selection panels make recommendations for awards, but the final selection of candidates for King and Amy O’Malley Scholarship awards is at the absolute discretion of the Managing Trustees of the King and Amy O’Malley Trust.
